Death of Brighton Township woman declared a homicide

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Livingston County police are investigating the slaying of a 71-year-old Brighton Township woman who was found dead in her home Tuesday, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Police say she was killed during a robbery and are investigating what, if anything, was taken.

Michigan State Police went to Louise Derosia's home yesterday after her family called and said they couldn't reach her by phone.

“I know her house has been broke into a couple of other times, too," Derosia's grandson, Nick Montgomery, told the Free Press. "... last February, while she was in the house, and they just pushed her into the bathroom.”

An autopsy will be completed today at a Lansing hospital.

My condolences to her family, you are in my prayers. Our older parents and grandparents are now the prime targets when living alone. A sad commentary, and disgusting that anyone would feel the need to murder an elderly victim.
