Detroit man arraigned on 6 counts in Ann Arbor stabbing; female suspect in custody

Johnson was charged with assault with intent to murder, conspiracy to commit an assault with intent to murder, possession of a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, conspiracy to commit a crime with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit an assault with a dangerous weapon.

The conspiracy charges allege Johnson and the female suspect planned the stabbing together. AnnArbor.com will name female when she is arraigned on charges.

The weapon in question was described by Magistrate Elisha Fink, who arraigned Johnson on the charges, as a knife with a blade of more than three inches.

It’s alleged Johnson used the weapon to slash a 22-year-old Ann Arbor man in the abdomen Sunday morning in the hallway of an apartment building in the 400 block of South First Street.

The severely wounded victim made it up to the BP gas station at Main and Williams where an attendant called 911 around 3:50 a.m., police said. The man remains in the intensive care unit at the University of Michigan Hospital, where he has undergone surgeries for his wounds.

On Wednesday, Ann Arbor and Detroit police said they tracked Johnson down to a house in Detroit where they found him hiding in a closet.

Fink set Johnson’s bond at $20,000 cash or surety.

“I’m setting it that high because of the severity of the charges,” she said.
