By Erica Hobbs

Dexter Community Schools will host a public meeting today to present its draft plan to reconfigure the district’s transportation system.

The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of Creekside Intermediate School at 2615 Baker Road in Dexter.

Dexter is looking at its options for saving money on transportation.

The plan is based on a bus route optimization study that was conducted on the district’s bus system in 2009. It also takes into consideration input from three public meetings on the study in February.

The district is welcoming additional public input after the draft plan presentation. Another public meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 31 at Creekside before the administration recommends a plan to the Board of Education on April 12.
