Dexter schools to host second public forum on changing bus system

By Erica Hobbs

Dexter Community Schools will hold a second public meeting Wednesday to discuss reconfiguring the district's transportation system.

The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of Creekside Intermediate School at 2615 Baker Road in Dexter.

School officials held a similar meeting Thursday to present their draft plan on changing the district’s bus system. The plan is expected to save the district $480,000 and includes changes such as reducing the number of bus stops, eliminating buses for vocational programs and creating a no-transport zone for students who live in the village of Dexter within a mile and a half of a school.

Wednesday’s meeting will also include a brief presentation of the plan, but will focus more on public input and answering questions.

The administration is expected to make a recommendation to the Board of Education in April.
