Dexter Village receives funds for new play structure in Warrior Creek Park
The Village of Dexter recently received a $5,000 grant for a playground installation at Warrior Creek Park from the Chelsea-Area Wellness Foundation as part of the 5 Healthy Towns initiative.
Allison Bishop, community development director, said the Washtenaw County Parks Commission also received $5,000 from the foundation. The two grants will be combined and used to purchase a new play structure at Warrior Creek Park.
The structure is expected to be installed during a community build in the spring, she said.
In a related item, leaves were raked at Monument Park, and the village’s fall scarecrow decorations were installed Sunday when a group of volunteers from the Dexter United Methodist Church performed a work day in the village, Bishop said.
She said the group is planning to re-stain the gazebo as well as perform a general cleanup of the downtown.
The village expects to install its ice rink and a new liner on Dec. 5.
