Hazel's Home Cookin' in Dexter may get new owner by Oct. 1

By Lisa Allmendinger

Krystyna Aniolczyk and her son, Bart, are in the final stages of purchasing Hazel’s Home Cookin' in Dexter from current owner Denise Livingston.

The downtown restaurant is located at 8050 Main Street in the former Washtenaw County Sheriff’s substation building.

“We love the place, it’s charming,” Bart Aniolczyk told the Dexter Village Council Monday night. “The menu’s great and we plan to keep it as it is and slowly add in new items in the future.”

The mother and son brought a taste of what they plan to serve at the restaurant to the meeting and received rave reviews and unanimous approval of a two-year lease with a tentative start date of Oct.1. The owners will have a first option to renew for an additional year on Oct. 1, 2013.

The lease is for a total of $15,000, or $625 per month.

Aniolczky has more than 20 years experience in the restaurant business at Amadeus Cafe in Ann Arbor and she plans to continue the “same home-style cooking plan,” that Livingston started two years ago.
