Estimated $20K worth of electronics stolen from Mager Scientific near Dexter

By Heather Lockwood

An estimated $20,000 or more in computers and other electronics was stolen from scientific instrument maker Mager Scientific near Dexter sometime overnight Sunday, Sgt. David Archer of the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office said.

The theft occurred sometime between 4:30 p.m. Sunday and 8:20 a.m. Monday, Archer said. The thief or thieves broke a window to enter the building and likely used a dolly that was already inside the business to move the equipment to the same window, Archer said.

Two computer servers, five laptop computers, seven desktop computers, three computer monitors, three TVs, a DVD player and two digital cameras were stolen, along with a petty cash drawer containing an unknown amount of money and a coin box, Archer said.

Mager Scientific, 1100 Baker Road, in Scio Township makes science instruments such as microscopes, Archer said.

Police have no suspects and no further details were immediately available.
