Work on North Territorial Road in Northfield, Webster townships begins Monday
Starting Monday, motorists might want to avoid North Territorial Road in Webster and Northfield townships for a while as the Washtenaw County Road Commission begins paving work.
North Territorial Road from Whitmore Lake Road to Spencer Road in Northfield Township will be one-lane with flag men directing traffic. Paving work begins Monday and lasts about 10 days.
This daytime work is weather dependent and delays are likely for motorists.
Also as part of the project, guardrail upgrades at the North Territorial and US-23 interchange will take place, according to the Road Commission.
Paving will also take place on North Territorial from one-half mile east of Huron River Drive to Mast Road in Webster Township. This work is also scheduled to begin Monday and last five days.

The US-23/M14 constuction eastbound didn't slow me down too much Sunday morning, but while taking an alternate route back in the afternoon, I saw how jammed it was in all three lanes. I was glad in the evening to find out that US-23 north of M-14 didn't have lanes closed. But going north using back roads presented some evidence of the Dexter tornado I hadn't expected to see.

So if you live beyond North Territorial and Dexter-Pinckney, the ways to get out now are to drive back roads to Zeeb since you have to bypass Dexter Village construction and the brewery delivery truck that sits in the middle of road at Grant, drive North to M36 or south to Chelsea. Juts nuts. How about one main artery at a time?

Have they driven the section from Mast Rd. EAST to Webster Church Rd.? The section between Donavon Rd and Scully Rd. is horrible! They paved from Webster Church east to Whitmore Lake Rd. a few years ago. Why is the section I mentioned above being skipped? It's maybe a mile section at best. I'm confused by the logic or lack thereof.

Work on Plymouth-Ann Arbor Road is only a short time away. Soon you will have to go north to I-696/96 or south to I-94 to go east-west between Ann Arbor and Plymouth. Of course I-275 is also under construction.

Do they deliberately do this to cause headaches? It would be nice if they waited until the work on 23/M14 was finished before doing this. Doing roadwork on alternate routes at the same time is extremely annoying.

Then what would be the fun of doing the orange barrel polka? Can't zig nor zag.
