Gas leak forces closure of Dexter-Pinckney and Island Lake roads intersection
Update: The road was reopened shortly after 5 p.m.
Firefighters closed Dexter-Pinckney Road at the intersection with Island Lake Road west of Dexter because of a gas leak Wednesday afternoon.
A construction crew working in the area broke a 4-inch gas line, said Robert Wagner, assistant chief of the Dexter Area Fire Department.
DTE Energy was working to address the problem, but shortly before 4 p.m., firefighters were expecting the road to be closed for another half hour.
Motorists were able to continue through the intersection on Island Lake Road but could not travel north on Dexter-Pinckney Road, firefighters said. Traffic was detouring through the subdivision east of the intersection to travel north on Dexter-Pinckney Road.

They're constructing a sidewalk across the intersection from the senior citizens complex to the east side of Dexter Pinckney Rd. I'm curious if they called Miss Dig.
