Historic Gordon Hall near Dexter has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the James A. and Faith Knight Foundation.

“The grant committee is excited that Gordon Hall is getting financial recognition from such a significant foundation, said grant writer Shirley Jackson. "This award not only allows current projects to move forward, but it also sets the stage for grants to be awarded from other sources." Gordon Hall, owned and operated by The Dexter Area Historical Society and Museum, has also received a federal grant along with significant private donations in the recent past.

The Dexter Area Historical Society purchased the historic home from the University of Michigan in March 2006 for $1.5 million and began a campaign to save the structure as a historic site for the village.
