New pizza restaurant coming to Dexter
The space that once housed an art gallery in the village of Dexter will be transformed into a pizza restaurant this winter, according to a report in the Dexter Leader.
The restaurant - to be called Bits and Pizzas - will be located at 8099 Main, at the corner of Broad Street. The space offers room for eventual expansion, and it will accommodate up to 100 patrons when a back patio is open, the story says.
The owners will be Robert and Mindy D’Oria, according to the report.

Sounds good but I wish we would get a Starbucks or Tim Horton's too. I have a liberal arts degree in women's studies and progressive and enlightened educated people like Me like our coffee. That being said I wish we could get an olive garden too.

Exciting news! Looks like much more than the run of the mill pizza. Dexter has a big enough community to support more well run restaurants. Hope this fills a niche - Thanks for investing in your hometown!

I think it's great! I'm not really fond of any of the pizza places here in Dexter. Just run of the mill tasting pizza or chain pizza joints like Jets. But it seems that this place will have more than just pizza. Hence the name "Bits and Pizzas." I just wonder what the bits part will be! I googled their webpage and it looks like they will also be serving wine and beer as well. It will be refreshing to have a new place that has the possibility of actually having good food because I'm totally NOT impressed with the rest of the places around here.

Mary, the Bits will be small plates/tapas from Italy, Mexico, Spain, India, and other parts of the world. We'll also have some pizzas that are deconstructions of popular international cuisine, like a Mexican one that isn't like any Mexican pizza you've ever had or can get around here...real authentic Mexican ingredients and flavors.

Pizza seems to be in good supply already. Why not something different?

It will be different. You're forming an opinion on what we are based on a story written after a quick interview with Sean at the Dexter Leader. We're not going to be anything like the pizza you can currently get in Dexter (...or Ann Arbor or most of Southeast Michigan for that matter). We're also going to have an extensive small plates/tapas (...that's the "Bits" part that everyone seems to be ignoring) menu representing cuisine from around the world. Go ahead and assume it won't be different...but prepare to be surprised when it is.

Hmm....great, another pizza place in downtown Dexter where there is already decent pizza at Aubrey's and terrific pizza at Dexters Pub...

The Pub is not a pizza place and the half dozen or so times I've been in Aubree's you can count the number of tables with pizzas on them with one hand. They are bar & grill joints that happen to serve pizza. We on the other hand take our pizza very seriously and you will realize the difference that makes soon enough.

I was just thinking to myself that we don't have enough places for pizza in Dexter! Unless you count Aubree's, Cottage Inn, Class, Jet's and Wings N Things as pizza places...

Wow. I really don't care for any of those pizza places. The full article said that it would have new york/neapolitan style pizza cooked in a wood burning oven. I can't wait to try it! We get pizza every Friday and usually just order from Jets. It will be a great change of pace for our Friday pizza nights.

Don't forget the new one opening in the Busch's plaza where Wags & Whiskers used to be! I think the sign on the door said it's going to be called B-Line Pizza. Enough with the pizza places already!
