Police investigating gas station burglaries in Dexter and Scio Township

By John Counts

Police are investigating two reported break-ins at gas stations that occurred early Friday morning.

Deputies from the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office responded to an alarm at 2:50 a.m. to the Citgo gas station located at 5680 Jackson Ave., in Scio Township. The front glass door was smashed, according to a news release. A large amount of cigarettes were reportedly stolen before the suspect or suspects fled the scene.

At 3:37 a.m., deputies responded to another alarm at the Mobil gas station located at 7177 Dexter-Ann Arbor Rd. in Dexter. The rear back door was broken out, police said. Items were knocked over, but police don't know what, if anything, as been stolen.

Police continue to investigate both incidents. There are no suspects at this time.

I wondered the same thing. The car and the MSP car were both damaged. Made me think there was a take out move. In addition, there were tracks in the snow connecting two separate ramps (exit & entrance) like a chase? The story says no suspects, though. I haven't seen any information about that "accident".

I doubt there's a connection, but just maybe this has something to do with the incident that concluded at the base of the westbound offramp at exit 167 (Baker Road) between 11:30 and noon today? There were numerous Michigan State Police vehicles surrounding a vehicle that was damaged and seemed to be missing its back window, and one of the MSP cruisers also appeared to be damaged (large dent on one side). Also, there were tire tracks in the snow bank between the onramp and offramp on that side. Was there some kind of pursuit? Any comment from MSP?
