Pride and Honor Flight honors veterans' service with trips to World War II Memorial

By Cindy Heflin

Fox 2 reporter Rich Luterman went along on a recent trip to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., with Pride and Honor Flight, the organization started by Faye and Jack Wiseley of Dexter.

The organization, part of the national Honor Flight Network, takes veterans on free trips to visit war memorials.

The Wiseleys launched their organization in 2006 after Faye Wiseley saw a television report about a trip that took Ohio veterans to see the memorial.

The Wiseleys' efforts earned them the 2008 Citizen of the Year Award from The Ann Arbor News.

I had the honor of taking this trip two years ago. Pride and Honor Flight Michigan has taken thousand of WW II Veterans to Washington D.C. to see all of the memorials at no cost to the veterans. If they need assistance they may bring someone with them at a very small cost. These are all volunteers that do this with money raised by fund raisers and business and personal contributions God Bless Faye and Jack Wiseley and all who are involved with " Pride and Honor Flight Michigan"
