The story said groups including the Dexter Senior Center, the Athletic Booster Club of Dexter, the Dexter Lions Club and Faith in Action were presented checks during a presentation in Monument Park.

The money was generated from entry fees paid by runners participating in the race. Each runner had $5 of their fee donated to the fund.
