Driver attempts to flee traffic stop in York Township

By Tina Reed

Police say a driver attempted to flee a traffic stop in York Township on Thursday evening before hitting a parked vehicle on the side of the road.

Around 5:20 p.m., Washtenaw County Sheriff's deputies attempted to pull over a 31-year-old Monroe resident driving on Platt Road near Arkona.

The driver attempted to flee and struck the parked vehicle. The two occupants of the vehicle ran, but were located within a short distance.

The police report will be forwarded to the prosecutor's office seeking charges for hit and run, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, and driving on a suspended license, police said. The passenger was wanted on a warrant.
