Driver hospitalized after semi rolls over in Pittsfield Township

By Kyle Feldscher

A semi truck rolled over on the ramp from eastbound Interstate 94 to southbound U.S. 23, resulting in the ramp being closed Tuesday evening.

Huron Valley Ambulance spokeswoman Joyce Williams said emergency crews were dispatched at 6:39 p.m. Tuesday after the semi rolled over in Pittsfield Township. The driver was pinned in the cab of the truck until 7:17 p.m., Williams said.

He’s been taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in stable condition, Williams said.

As of 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, the ramp was closed off while Michigan State Police investigated and crews worked on cleaning up the crash.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area.

This junction is terribly out of date and it really can't handle the traffic congestion of both highways.

Sorry, I missed this accident in my post above. A one-car crash slowed traffic Tuesday afternoon on eastbound Interstate 94 near Stone School Road in Ann Arbor.

Also added to today's vehicular carnage: Serious crash this AM NB US-23 at 223 (Five mile post near/at end of constr zone in Monroe County). AM crash grey compact car WB I-94 at WB M-14 entrance ramps (A2 west side). Rollover in York Twp. Toyota car fire on EB M-14 passing lane east of Dixboro Road around 730 p tonight. WB M-14, west of Dixboro Road, at about 730 PM tonight a rolled over bronze car - maybe a Ford? - with ambulances/everything there. NOT a particularly good day for motoring in Washtenaw.

A simple right turn. Drivers who haul must know about taking preventive measures, whether they're going straight, making 90-degree turns, or backing into docks. Speed and weight distribution in the trailer are all I can think of.
