Driver killed after car overturns into retention pond in Superior Township
A vehicle overturned in a retention pond in Superior Township early today, killing 21 year old Daniel Cassidy, 21, of Canton, the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department said.
The crash likely occurred around 1:30 a.m., but wasn't discovered until 7:40 a.m., police said.
The vehicle was in a retention pond off Geddes Road about a mile west of Ridge Road, in front of the Arbor Woods manufactured home community, police said.
The 21-year-old driver from Canton was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the driver was released on December 14.

Update 12/14: The driver in the crash has been identified as Daniel Cassidy, 21, of Canton. No further details on what may have caused the crash were released today.

This was a co-worker who was taken way to early.MY thoughts and prayers go with his family and girlfriend. HE was a great guy who will be truly missed.

I saw that Geddes Rd was closed just east of Harris, west of Gotfredson Road this morning and saw the multiple police vehicles and wrecker etc...My heart breaks for the family of this young man. Heartbreaking. You think at this point in their life you have raised your child and it will be okay....and then life kicks you in the stomach. Very sad. I'm sorry for the family.
