Drowning death of Manchester High School student has been ruled accidental
The drowning of a Manchester High School student has been ruled accidental by German officials, according to a report in the Jackson Citizen Patriot.
Interim school Superintendent Kevin Mowrer said the drowning occurred Tuesday. Due to the sunny weather conditions, several students decided to go swimming in a lake near Berlin.
The student — reported to be Anthony Radze, a 16-year-old MHS student who was to be a senior — was reported missing and his body was found by German police at the lake, Mowrer said.
The trip was a part of the district's foreign exchange program with schools in Spain and Germany.
Manchester school officials have hosted community forums on Thursday and Friday, providing a place for community members to come together and grieve. The Washtenaw County Traumatic Events Response Network has been on hand at the high school for those who are in need of assistance.
Mowrer said all the students who were on trip have returned home and are being provided with grief counselors.
