Ypsilanti police officers repeatedly Tasered a drunken man in Riverside Park on Wednesday evening after he appeared prepared to fight them and became uncooperative.

Officers were dispatched to the park after a person called to say there was an intoxicated man wearing fatique shorts and a black tank top who was making crude gestures to women.

The caller also said the man almost fell into the Huron River.

When officers arrived, they discovered the 30-year-old man was incoherent. They began checking his property, but say he took a "fighting stance," and officers became involved in a physical altercation with him. They used the Taser a number of times to subdue him.

He was transported to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.
