Angel Banuelos, who is terminally ill, was looking for help from readers in Ann Arbor last week during his search for his long-lost friend from World War II.

He and a friend had heard that John Alloway may have been living in Ann Arbor or might have had family here

The pair hadn't seen each other since the war ended, and Banuelos, 88, wanted to see him again before he dies.

Banuelos got his answers recently, though they ended up coming from Metro Detroit and not Ann Arbor.

A report on WXYZ-TV says that a niece of Alloway came forward to tell Banuelos about her uncle's life after he came home from the war. It wasn't the news Banuelos was looking for, but he's sending the niece some memorabilia and enjoyed their conversation.
