Crash shuts eastbound I-94 in Ann Arbor

By Cindy Heflin

m>Update: The freeway was reopened about 6:15 a.m. Although the Michigan Department of Transportation earlier reported the crash involved two vehicles, it was a single-vehicle accident.

A crash had shut down the eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 in Ann Arbor Thursday morning, a dispatcher with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office said.

The crash occurred about 2:30 a.m. near Stone School road, Ann Arbor Fire Department Battalion Chief Robert Vogel said.

Michigan State Police were handling the crash investigation.

As of 5:50 a.m., it was not clear when the freeway would reopen. Further information was not immediately available.

I am not surprised that there was another accident by State Street and 94. There is one almost daily. Glad to hear it did not disrupt rush hour and everyone walked.

I drove by there on westbound 94 about 2:45, and if nobody was killed, I'm amazed.

Is this the same crash where a fatality was reported this morning on the news?

At least one media outlet has reported a fatality. We are working to get more information about this crash and will provide it as soon as we have the information confirmed.
