Eastern Michigan police search for man suspected in 'minor' stabbing
Police Chief Greg O'Dell called the incident a "minor stabbing" and said the woman was treated for an injury to her hand and released at an area hospital.
Police are searching for a black male wearing a blue thermal shirt and hat and carrying a backpack. The incident in the dorm occurred about 11:45 a.m. but wasn't reported until about an hour later, O'Dell said.
O'Dell would not release information about the weapon used, where in the dorm the incident occurred or how many times she was stabbed.
He said the victim was not an EMU student.

Steveh and jcj....I use to work at EMU and on several occasions students moved their friends into their dorm room because they had no place to live which was, and probably still is, against university policy. Yes, it is a public campus, but not a half way house for friends who have no where to live. I'm still suspicious, there has to be more to this story.

EMU Police release more details: "Early this afternoon, EMU Police were notified of an assault that occurred in Phelps Residence Hall on campus. Information gathered through the investigation so far indicates that the victim opened the door to the residence hall room and the suspect then entered. A struggle ensued when the suspect began to take property from the room. During the struggle, the victim, a non-EMU student, was struck in the head by a fist and injured in the hand by a knife held by the suspect. The suspect fled from the room, taking a laptop computer. The victim described the suspect as being a black male, with a dark complexion, in his 20s, 5-foot-7 to 5-8, weighing 200 pounds, and with a goatee. He was said to be wearing a long sleeve, royal blue thermal shirt, dark blue jeans and a gray baseball cap. He was said to be carrying a mostly white back pack with two vertical royal blue stripes, gray strings and a black bottom. EMU Police continue to investigate the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the EMU Police at (734) 487-1222."

The victim was not an EMU student? Then what was she doing on campus and in the dorm at that hour of the day? Something not quite right with this "story", hope annarbor.com keeps us updated. Good news that she wasn't badly injured.

Gotta agree with Steve, There are a million reasons why she could have been there at midday. Its not like it was 4 in the morning!

Believe it or not it is a public campus and you are allowed to visit. Why are you making this so sinister? Could have been a person touring the campus, a relative or friend of a student, or even a vendor that supplies the university. And what is wrong with 1145 AM? It's not like it was 330am
