Eastern Michigan University police search for man who claimed he had a weapon
A man loitering in the hallway of an Eastern Michigan University building with his pants and underwear below his knees fled from a student and claimed he had a weapon, campus police said.
The incident occurred about 9:45 a.m. today in the Warner Building. No weapon was seen, and the man wasn't found, police said.
EMU Police Chief Greg O'Dell said there's no information or evidence that the man actually had a weapon.
According to a campus crime alert, a staff member and students saw the man loitering in the hallway outside the classroom. The staff member attempted to approach him and noticed his pants and underwear were down, the alert said.
No one actually saw him exposed, O'Dell said.
The man ran and a student gave chase, O'Dell said. As he ran, the man claimed he had a weapon, the alert said. He was last seen running into a parking structure.
Witnesses described him as a light skinned black man, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, about 140 pounds, and wearing a brown Carhartt style jacket, white shirt, blue jeans, a wide black belt and black knit hat.
Anyone with information is asked to call the EMU Police Department at 734-487-1222 or the tip line at 734-487-4847.

hard to tell, but sounds like there ight be an underlying mental illness, maybe the Englers could offer him some assistance to keep him from being incarcerated if he is apprehended down the road.

Actually it's my speed reading that can use some rehabilitation. I assure you if I choose to do some remedial courses it will not be at a college located in an unsavory part of town and where I am expected to feel safe because I get a text message...

How does one with pants and underwear around their knees outrun and evade capture? With mad skills like that I hope this guy avails himself of some track and field or football scholarships to better himself. Also surprise if the guy claimed he had a weapon, shouldn't there have been a lockdown? Was there an oh so afective text/email alert sent to the students? Inquiring minds want to know.
