Eastern Michigan University students arrested in burglaries

Using surveillance footage from a residence hall at Eastern Michigan University, police quickly zeroed in on two suspects in a pair of dorm room burglaries this week.

The suspects - EMU students who live in Phelps Hall where the break-ins occurred - confessed and were jailed on felony charges, Lt. Robert Heighes said.

The burglaries occurred Tuesday and this morning. Both involved unlocked doors, Heighes said.

"They just walked the halls in the early morning hours and looked for unlocked doors," Heighes said. "Lock your doors."

In the first break-in, two laptops, two iPods and a cell phone were stolen. In today's break-in, two laptops, two cell phones, cash, a PS3, and three video games were stolen.

In both cases, the residents were sleeping at the time, police said.

Heighes said police are only linking the men to this week's break-ins so far, but the investigation continues.

The men - whose ages weren't available today - were jailed until arraignment, likely Saturday, Heighes said.

Wow how soon everyone forgets....I remember not so long ago when a young man(Orange Taylor) Raped and murdered a young lady, her only mistake was not locking her door too...

Sorry for not remembering the name of the young lady that Orange Taylor murdered. Her name was Laura Dickinson.

Kick em out of school! They don't belong in Ypsilanti they belong in Jackson!
