Teachers across the state of Michigan aiming to make their classroom more sustainable are eligible to apply for a grant from Ann Arbor-based Energy Works Michigan.

A joint project of the Ecology Center and Recycle Ann Arbor, Energy Works Michigan will award 40 Greening Michigan Classrooms Grants of $500 each to teachers who have ideas for sustainable initiatives, events, activities and projects in their classrooms. 

The applications are available at www.EnergyWorksMichigan.com. Applications are due by Sept. 20.

Energy Works Michigan, funded by a $3.5 million grant awarded by the Michigan Public Service Commission, is implementing energy conservation projects and renewable energy installations in Michigan schools.
