Ann Arbor Public Schools Communications Director Liz Margolis said the school will not be open because of a heating problem due to the persistent power outage. A2 Tech is one of the district's two alternative secondary education programs.

The district, as well as most schools in Washtenaw County, was closed Wednesday as the result of a winter storm that dropped 4 to 7 inches of snow and knocked out power to 26,000 customers.

A2 Tech was without power Wednesday and it had not been restored as of 11 p.m. Margolis said even if it does turn on, the school will not be heated thoroughly enough by morning for students and staff.

King and Mitchell elementary schools and Scarlett Middle School also were without power Wednesday. A2 Tech is the only building where the power has not come back on, Margolis said.
