The annual talent show celebrating National African American Parent Involvement Day at Lincoln High School was postponed until further notice Monday. But several other school districts will have events taking place as planned.

Washtenaw County school districts were closed Monday because of icy roadway conditions on the county’s back roads in the early morning hours.

Although the NAAPID at Night Talent Show was postponed at Lincoln High School, the district will go ahead with its school board meeting at 6 p.m.

Lincoln Middle School's practice for its first musical, "Disney's Mulan Jr.," was called off. Practice will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3 to 6:30 p.m. in preparation for the 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday shows.

All county high school sports contests will be played according to schedule, with the exception of Ann Arbor Public Schools' bowling.

Cancellations for athletic practices at most Washtenaw County school districts vary from team to team and school to school. When school is closed during the day, students are encouraged to contact their coaches or athletic directors to see about evening practices.

An announcement on the AAPS website says all after-school events, including practices, have been canceled for Monday night. This also includes all Community Recreation and Education activities.

Non-sports evening activities at Ypsilanti Public Schools will remain scheduled unless called off by the building’s administrators. Ypsilanti Middle School athletic events are canceled, however.

Wylie Elementary School in Dexter had to postpone its third-grade folk dancing event. It will be rescheduled for a later date.

Icy Roads at Night are extremely dangerous! Esp when teen drivers attempt to traverse them. AAPS was Right to cancel! Bravo to the courageous AAPS administrators than made the decision!
