Whitmore Lake High School Top Scholars
Whitmore Lake High School held its 2010 graduation ceremonies June 6 in the high school gymnasium. The class had 105 graduates.
Shelby Danielle Alexa
Activities and awards: Shelby had been part of the basketball and softball teams. She was a member of the National Honor Society and the Key Club, and was class treasurer. Shelby has received a scholar athlete award and citizen's award.
Plans after graduation: Shelby will be attending EMU, to pursue a major in the health sciences.
Samantha Jamille Clark
Activities and awards: Samantha was Whitmore Lake Key Club President, and a National Honor Society member, with 4 years of Academic Honors.
Plans after graduation: Samantha will be attending Western Michigan University in the fall of 2010 as a Medallion Scholarship winner. She plans to major in English Secondary Education to be a High School English teacher.
Rachel Elizabeth Curts
Activities and awards: Rachel was class president in her freshman and sophomore years and served as National Honor Society President during her senior year. As a four-year athlete in volleyball and softball and a participant in basketball and powerlifting, Rachel has received numerous athletic awards. Her proudest achievements are winning volleyball district champions and powerlifting state champions, both three years in a row. Rachel enjoys volunteering with various organizations such as National Honor Society, Key Club, Spirit Club and more.
Plans after graduation: Rachael will be attending Michigan State University to pursue a degree in Education.
Nicole Emmett
Activities and awards: Nicole was part of the volleyball, basketball, and softball teams. She won the scholar athlete award both varsity years in each sport and received the Coach’s Award ‘07 and ‘08 in volleyball, and the Sportsmanship Award ‘09 in softball. Nicole also participated in the Flag Corps and Key Club. She is part of the youth group at church and attended a youth leadership camp the summer of 2008. Nicole graduated valedictorian, achieved perfect attendance all four years and was on the honor roll. She received awards for outstanding achievement and academic excellence, above and beyond in math, above and beyond in business education.
Plans after graduation: Nicole plans are to attend Washtenaw Community College to further her education
Katrina Marie Garlick
Activities and awards: Katrina graduated valedictorian and was a member of the National Honor Society and Key Club. She won the Vocal Award in ’09.
Plans after graduation: Katrina will be attending Northern Arizona University to study Environmental Conservation.
