Election 2009: Mike Anglin, Leigh Greden lead the pack with campaign fundraising for Ann Arbor City Council races

Five candidates competing for two seats on the Ann Arbor City Council have raised nearly $28,000 this election cycle, according to pre-election campaign finance reports filed with the Washtenaw County Clerk's Office.

The latest filings, which cover the reporting period from April 16 to July 19, show the incumbents in the 3rd and 5th wards are out-raising their challengers. Councilman Leigh Greden, D-3rd Ward, has raised $8,575. Mike Anglin, D-5th Ward, has raised $8,918, including in-kind contributions.

Scott Rosencrans, who is challenging Anglin in Tuesday's primary, has raised the most of any challenger with $6,715 to date.

Post-primary campaign statements are due Sept. 3, which may show higher totals.

Why is it no surprise that Christopher Easthope, the former council member whose campaign for judge Greden worked on using a city owned laptop during a council meeting, has contributed to Greden's campaign? That would have been an interesting addition to this story...

If Councilman Greden wins again I will seriously consider selling my home in Ann Arbor. I fully agree his does not listen to his constituents and I have been nothing but dissatisfied with his performance.

"John D. Dingell For Congress Committee - $250" So this is pretty disturbing information. Is the Congressman on board with all of Mr. Greden's actions of late? Guess I'll call his office.
