Ele's Place receives $5,000 grant to expand services
Ele’s Place has received a $5,000 grant to expand grief support services in Washtenaw County and surrounding areas.
The Michigan State Medical Society Foundation awarded the grant to Ele's Place, which provides support services for grieving children ages 3-18 and their families following the death of a parent, sibling, or other loved one.
Ele's Place has offices in Ann Arbor and Lansing. According to its Web site, 73 percent of families served from the Ann Arbor office are from the immediate area, including Chelsea, Dexter, Manchester, Milan, Saline, Whitmore Lake and Ypsilanti. The remaining 27 percent come from other surrounding communities.
Ele’s Place was established in 1991 and is named in honor of Ele Stover, who died in 1989 at the age of 11 months.
