Endorsement for Mark Ouimet omitted from Sunday's print edition opinion page
By AnnArbor.com Staff
AnnArbor.com endorsed State Rep. Mark Ouimet for the 52nd district state house race in Tuesday's election.
His name was not included in a roundup list of candidates that had been recommended by AnnArbor.com in print and online on Sunday, Oct. 28.

That incomplete list only ran in the print edition of AnnArbor.com on Nov. 4.

Mark in a rout. Only hours now until the woman from Saline is dispatched.

The democrat party in general is bad for women as demonstrated by the insulting, simplton campaign schtick, the crushing unemployment and loss of $5000 in average income per family since obama ascended into power on a cloud of bs. That makes democrats and their record unemployment in Detroit and lowest work force since the 60's a crushing disaster for Michigan as well as the United States. The Fact of their MASSIVE FAILURE will compel voters to remove them from office - hopefully for decades.

If Annarbor.com was looking for respect, pointing it this error was the wrong way. Ouimet is bad for women, bad for children and bad for Michgan.

Mark is doing an excellent job in Lansing, representing his district and as a result will win easily. The hater democrats who regularly hose down this board with their bile amuse many but influence NONE. Hate does not sell, kids. ..and you democrats are churning up some amazing hatred this year – trying to match the Bush years when you struggled under our last qualified president with your one sided, myopic view of the world. Watergate seems like yesterday but you ignore the SEALs left on the Benghazi CIA facility roof to die alone by our hero Obama! …the incompetence of this president is second only to Carter but you are either unaware of that reality or don't care – both make your comments little more than pathetic.

"Hate does not sell, kids" . . . as proven the high negative scores your ad hominem attacks always garner.

It should have been omitted from the online version too.

It makes me really question how well informed AnnArbor.com is about these candidates based off your endorsements. Why don't you just endorse Hoekstra since he paid so much in advertisement ads? Thankfully, majority of us who took Political Science 101 was taught how media is biased politically based off who owns them, e.g. Rupert Murdock……. I won't be voting for Ouimet again. His actions over this past term leads me to believe that he has more interest in his own political career over what his constituents voted him in for. He said he supported education, but cutting funding for education does not help support our public schools.

In a campaign talk, he talked about only one topic, and that was the importance of education. Yet he voted for Snyder's major DECREASE in the funding of education. He's bad for our children and bad for the long-term economic future of our state (which hinges on education). Plus, he lacks the courage of his convictions. I favor Driskell over Ouimet.

Well, why don't you give him 24 hours of free front page advertising on Ann Arbor.com. The apology is meaningless.

What a shame that you would overlook Quimet's terrible record in Lasing (slashing education funds, increasing his own benefits) and questionable ethics, while also overlooking the many successes Gretchen Driskell has had as mayor of Saline. When partisanship extends this far, it's pure poison.

Except for endorsing Obama the newspaper would now officially qualify as being Republican. Given few Republicans are actually going to vote for Romney, and all newspapers have to endorse a presidential candidate to be considered pressworthy, it is official - Ann Arbor's representative news source is a hard-core Republican rag. Forget the Tesla, where's my U-haul?

Apparently you didn't notice everyone they endorsed, other than Ouimet, was a Democrat?

A PERFECT example of what a sore thumb A2.com is in our community after replacing the much more community oriented and representative AA News! I've always figured this misplaced poor excuse for a news source was an out of touch, out of place ,weak excuse( witness their blog police as compared with the much more "freedom of expression" policies of MLive) for a news publication. They have printed some of the most incredibly dumb readers columns I've ever read in my life - Rush Limpd... type stuff like the "I'm voting for Romney to restore freedom" column a few weeks ago.

You also ommitted his stance on issues in last Sunday's edition on where the candidates stood on issues. Is this because AA.com was embarrassed on his endorcement. I have yet to hear an original thought come out of this guys mouth. He simply side with the rich and powerful

This was going to be a controversial endorsement to say the least. Good thing it only appears in the less read Monday issue. ;)

Wow. Ouimet has been one of the biggest champions of the MOST severe and disabling cuts to the public schools systems in decades. He's one of the only legislators who doesn't state that the cuts were more severe than ideal. And annarbor.com is endorsing him? This makes me so sad.

I love the negative votes for simply stating facts. Only in Ann Arbor. I am not a Ouimet supporter, BTW. What a hoot.

Ghost, you fail to mention that there were a number of people who did the same thing as Ouimet, several of them Democrats. You also fail to mention that the receipt of these funds was not purposeful fraud, but sprang from a misunderstanding of the rules by all parties involved. You also fail to mention that Ouimet was the first to return the money once the rules were clarified and that a prominent Democrat has yet to reimburse the county.

I agree completely. Not only is he someone who has targeted public school funding, he is unethical ta-boot. This very same publication ran articles about how this man took public funds for per diem payments that he had no justification to claim. If it wasn't for this news site, the man would still be holding on to our cash without remorse.
