Expect delays on State Street in Ann Arbor this weekend

By AnnArbor.com Staff

It may be best to avoid State Street in Ann Arbor from Stimson Street to Oakbrook Drive this weekend.

Concrete paving will result in lane closures from 6 p.m. tonight until 3 p.m. Monday, the city's Project Management Unit said.

The city says the center left turn lane will be paved in concrete tonight, then needs about three days to cure. The work is the last phase in the resurfacing of State Street.

Here's the detour plan:

• 6 p.m. tonight to 2 p.m. Saturday: Southbound State Street will be detoured Stimson Street to south on S. Industrial to west on Eisenhower to State Street.

• 6 p.m. tonight to 3 p.m. Monday: The center left turn will be closed between Stimson Street and Oakbrook Drive. Both through lanes (northbound and southbound) will be maintained.

Southbound traffic that needs to access a driveway on the east side of the street will be detoured south to the “Michigan” turn-around approximately 1000 feet south of Eisenhower, allowing traffic to return northbound for access to driveways on the east side of the street.

Northbound traffic that needs to access a driveway on the west side of the street will be detoured north to Stimson Street to Henry Street to White Street to south on State Street.

Pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times.

The city advises motorists to seek alternate routes if possible.
