Facebook friends steal from Northfield Township man's home, police say

By AnnArbor.com Staff

A Northfield Township resident was ripped off by some new Facebook friends he invited over to his house, township police said.

The resident, who lives in the 8000 block of Garfield, told police he invited some acquaintances he met on the popular social networking site to his house on Thursday.

After seeing the acquaintances enter and exit his home several times, the resident became suspicious, reports said. The acquaintances then disappeared.

The resident discovered his laptop computer and cell phones were missing.

The case remains under investigation, police said.

@Atticus F... I seriously doubt the information given by the friendly thieves was factual on their FB profiles. Unfortunately the crime will probably not warrant getting policing agencies that could track the users through internet traffic involved...

I guess this is a lesson well learned. No parties, no personal information, and do not say when you are going to be away from home.

I hope the victim will now be a wee bit more cautious? Did the report say if the new "friends" were male or female?
