About 4,500 customers were without power this morning in area code 48198 (Superior Township, Ypsilanti north of the Huron River) due to a tree falling across a power line on Ridge Road. Map via DTE at 11:46 a.m. Friday.

Thousands of DTE Energy customers in Superior Township and northern Ypsilanti Township found themselves without power this morning.

A tree fell on power lines on Ridge Road in Ypsilanti Township near the DTE substation around 8:30 a.m. today, knocking out power to about 4,500 customers, said Scott Simons, DTE spokesman.

Crews are working on the problem, Simons said, and power should be restored by 1 p.m.

I really dislike being one of those "know-it-alls" but seriously...there are no Area Codes with 5 digits in the US, overseas maybe...how about may a ZIP code???? The person responsible for editing this piece must be a Math Major...not Journalism or English...
