A father was jailed this afternoon, accused of shooting his 24-year-old son in the abdomen in Superior Township during a physical altercation.

The son is in stable condition following surgery, and the father is expected to be charged with attempted murder.

Washtenaw County sheriff's officials said the shooting occurred around 4 p.m. near the intersection of Clark Road and MacArthur Boulevard.

According to a police press release, the father and son got into an altercation that turned physical, and the father shot his son in the abdomen. The nature of the fight wasn't disclosed.

Police said the father was arrested without incident. The son was taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, where he underwent surgery.

Their names have not been released.

The father is expected to be arraigned Thursday morning.

@ Braves03, you say "I know this man. He is a good, hard working father who cares about his family. I don't know what his son could have done for his dad to shoot him but I can only pray that everything works out!" A good father...seriously, a good father shoots his son..hmmmmm "Hope it all works out", I hope it works out as well, like the father going to prison for attempted murder and serving a complete sentence.

This is the problem when people who are clueless to the story but still think they have a need to hear their own comments

Sad situation, but we do not know enough to opine as to which one was in the wrong - and perhaps both were. Was this self defense? Was there another alternative? Speculation on the charges is premature at best. The P/A chooses and the Magistrate or District Court Magistrate rules on probable cause based on the complaint and/or testimony.
