FBI: Suspicious phone calls to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital 'non-serious'

By Juliana Keeping

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has determined suspicious phone calls to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital this week were not serious threats, an FBI spokeswoman said today.

The FBI and Department of Homeland Security this week investigated phone calls received over several days at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township, according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department.

The male caller did not threaten the hospital, but mentioned Willow Run Airport and alluded to the Christmas Day terrorism attempt near Detroit Metro Airport, a Sheriff's Department official said. Willow Run Airport is east of Ypsilanti and is 7 miles west of Detroit Metro. The calls were rambling in nature and didn't name any specific threats, the official said.

The FBI and local law enforcement investigated and found the calls to be non-serious, FBI spokeswoman Sandra Berchtold said today.

The authorities based their conclusion on a careful analysis of the audiotape, on which they heard a "rimshot" just before the caller hung up...

How did they come up with this conclusion? Have they talked to the person making the calls? With all the information you have given on this matter, you might as well of not said anything.
