Drivers had to splash through water in some areas of Ann Arbor on their way to work this morning as heavy downpours flooded some streets and a flood watch went into effect.

The National Weather Service issued the flood watch, in effect until late tonight, because showers and thunderstorms are expected to dump up to 3 inches of rain on some parts of the Ann Arbor area today.

The Weather Service said residents should be on the lookout for flooding of prone areas, road flooding and rapid rises in rivers and streams.

The watch area includes Washtenaw and Livingston counties, as well as several other counties in southeast Michigan.

The forecast calls for highs from 65 to 69 today and southeast winds from 10 to 20 mph. Showers are likely to diminish after 2 a.m. Thursday, though light showers are still possible.

Friday will bring better weather with partly sunny skies in the morning and highs for the day from 62 to 66. Clouds are expected to return in the afternoon, and it will be blustery with winds up to 30 mph.

from eharmony to this! :>) why do we have a drain commissioner? Oak Valley has always flooded. My feet got wet twice! Dry now though. On another note. The genius that approved a two lane bridge on Scio Church over I-94 should be fired. That area is always in rush hour grid lock! If ever 4 lanes were required it is that location.

The Canada Geese are up on the roof of Domino's Farms. I'm afraid to look out my window. Can a tsunami come from the Huron River?

@dading snow is way better for playing "duke boys" although if one is a purist, dirt and gravel roads work well too :) My driveway had about six inches of standing water. I got my poor feet wet getting to my car this morning. Oh the humanity!
