Forecast warns of flooding from snowmelt as temperatures rise into 40s this week

By Kelly Davenport

A little warm air is on the way, but that could mean flooding and even thunderstorms in the Ann Arbor area, the National Weather Service reported today.

Thunderstorms are possible tonight, as well as a chance of sleet and freezing drizzle overnight and into tomorrow. More snow is also in the forecast, but it's expected to be just a dusting, forecasters said.

The region could see highs in the mid-30's Monday and up to 40 degrees Tuesday, which means all that melting snow — more than 9 inches from recent storms — will pose a flooding risk for low-lying areas and those near rivers, lakes and creeks.
