Ann Arbor police arrested four people and are looking for two additional suspects after an armed robbery this afternoon at Schlanderer & Sons jewelry store on South Main Street, Lt. Mark St. Amour said.

well it should be easy to figure out who the others were even if the ones caught haven't talked, just check thier phone records, chances are they had their phones on them, just see their contact list. EASY

At 2:34pm on my clock, I listed to this as it unfolded. AAPD and U of M PD BOTH played a huge part in this. The UM K9 was on the scene as well as K9 from Chelsea. I am taking parts of Holly's post that I heard: "He was wearing a crimson/red colored tee and jeans" "trying to call someone" "another kid, bare-chested and wearing light blue basketball shorts" These points are dead on from what I listened to. The K9 lost the scent in the back yard of a home on Hoover and Main.

Rusty...want the down and dirty...let some thugs in your office with large caliber guns...have them point them at you demanding your property..what more is there to say...for chrissake people, we have an ongoing investigation...or is all of you feel the need to know every detail? Perhaps all y'all enjoy reading about others misfortune. I am thankful that the AAPD responded as quickly to the call as they did...I am also grateful people I love were not harmed.

So...interview with the victims? Residents/passersby who saw them running or hiding? Anonymous beat cops who might be willing to say more than the nonquote up now? Anything? Anything? Fundamentals folks, c'mon! You've given me no more information than I and half the town got in e-alerts. So I'm reading your web site... why?

I am just happy to hear none of the employees at Schlanderer and Sons were hurt, including Chuck or his parents. I bought my Wife's engagement ring from them and over the years they have appraised many items for me. It really stings to read this story because Mom and Pop shops already have a though time without being robbed! Why did these thieves think they could get away with this? What is it about downtown Ann Arbor on a weekday afternoon that makes thieves feel comfortable to think they could do this? Anyone have an answer?

Schlanderer and Sons was robbed a few years back. A couple guys trying to steal Rolex's. I think it was the UPS man in the alley that saw something fishy that time. An armed robbery, how scary, some of those ladies have been there through multiple robberies.

Kudos to UofM Security with text and phone alerts. I notified my son who runs a downtown store right where this was happening and he wouldn't have known anything about it if I hadn't called via the text and voice mail.

They usually go after Rolex dealers. Schlanderer's has a bill board by Jackson Road and I94 advertising that they carry Rolex. Years ago they got the one on South U and the one on Main Street.

Well, I actually saw the two guys. I was looking out of my living room window on Koch Ave watching the rain come down in sheets when I saw this guy, no more than 17/18 I would hazard, came running up the hill from the Main Street side, and stood under the tree in my neighbor's front yard right across from my house. He was wearing a crimson/red colored tee and jeans. I thought he was trying to beat the rain and get shelter. But then it struck me slightly odd when he crouched down next to the front yard hedge, whipped out his phone trying to call someone, and kept frantically looking down the road. Couple of minutes later another kid, bare-chested and wearing light blue basketball shorts, came running up Koch and joined him. The two immediately went behind the bushes and disappeared from my view. Though it seemed something was amiss, I did not pay it too much mind until the police arrived on the scene some twenty minutes later. Officers with guns and sniffer dogs were still combing the area until about half an hour ago. I wonder if they managed to track the twosome down. Feels weird. This the first time I have actually chanced to see felons on the run. Hopefully, it will be the last as well. And to think that we just moved to Ann Arbor from big bad New York City a few days back. Who was it there who said life is monochromatic in the midwest?

this is so upsetting! as a local wedding planner, i refer so many people to them; not just because they have great jewelry, but because they are seriously some of the nicest people in town. a robbery in ann arbor is always extremely concerning, but when you add a small business to the mix, it just makes it so much more heart breaking. glad to know some of the suspects have been caught, as well as to know that the employees were not hurt.

Wow, I would think 6 people is a lot of people to involve in an armed robbery. Schlanderer's isn't that big of a jewelry store to begin with. I wonder if the robbers robbed customers inside the store? And why pick on Schlanderer's? If I remember right, they were robbed a while ago.
