Free depression screenings offered in Ann Arbor next week

By Tina Reed

Free depression screenings will be available at two Ann Arbor locations next Thursday.

The University of Michigan Depression Center, the Institute of Human Adjustment and the Rackham Graduate School are partnering to offer the screenings free to the public.

The screenings will be available between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Psychological Clinic, 530 Church Street at East Hall in Suite 2463
. They will also be offered between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Rackham Graduate School Building, 915
East Washington Street.

Offered as part of National Depression Screening Day, the screenings will be conducted by trained professionals who can recommend further evaluation.

Screenings are meant to help people figure out whether depression may be the cause of feelings like prolonged sadness, anxiety, irritability, loss of pleasure in activities, feelings of hopelessness and physical pain.

For more information about National Depression Screening Day, contact Trish Meyer at meyerpa@umich.edu or visit the Depression Center's Web site.
