June Fowler says she saw flames shooting from the roof of her home near Pleasant Lake in Freedom Township when she drove up at about 2:10 p.m. today.
She called 911, and by the time firefighters arrived, the home she's lived in for 42 years was engulfed in flames. The home was deemed a total loss, and Fowler said she suspects her 16-year-old terrier mix named Diamond died in the fire.
Manchester Township Fire Chief Bill Scully said it appears the cause of the fire is electrical. He estimated damage to the small stone cottage at 12070 Elmdale Drive at $30,000 to $40,000.

"It's hard to put an estimate when a person has lived here 42 years," Scully said.
No one was injured in the blaze.
Scully said firefighters had trouble getting into the kitchen, where the fire is believed to have started, because of the contents in the home.
Seven fire trucks were on the scene from Manchester, Saline and Clinton.
