Freezing rain could hamper Christmas Eve travel in Ann Arbor area
Ann Arbor area residents headed to Christmas Eve worship services or embarking on holiday travels tonight may encounter some hazardous road conditions.
The National Weather Service predicts a wintry mix of freezing rain, snow and sleet for the area this evening. Surfaces could became glazed with about one-tenth of an inch of ice, the Weather Service says.

University of Michigan meteorologist Dennis Kahlbaum said the freezing precipitation is expected to start around 6 or 7 p.m. Freezing rain and rain will continue overnight, he said.
Sometime between 7 and 10 a.m. Friday, the mix should switch over to all rain as temperatures warm above freezing.
The high for Christmas is expected to be in the high 30s. Friday night, temperatures will drop to 25 to 29, and there's a 40 percent chance of snow showers.
Areas to the north and west will be in for harsher conditions, Kahlbaum said.
