Potts is believed to have fired three times at the officers. He was killed when at least one of the officers returned fire.

Blackman Township Public Safety Officer Darrin McIntosh, who was shot in the leg by Potts during the gunfight, underwent surgery and is recovering, police said.

The funeral services for Bonneau will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Lutheran Church on Sheldon Road in Canton. A procession to the United Memorial Gardens at 4800 Curtis Road in Superior Township will follow.

The procession will leave the church and follow the listed route:

  • North on Sheldon to Warren
  • Warren to Beck
  • Beck to Plymouth Ann Arbor
  • Plymouth Ann Arbor to Curtis

To accommodate all of the family, friends, and law enforcement officers, the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department will be closing Curtis Road between Joy and Plymouth-Ann Arbor Road during the procession.

Derrick Jackson, the department's director of community engagement, said the road will likely be closed from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Residents on Curtis Road and emergency traffic will be accommodated.

Police said drivers should find an alternative route during the early afternoon, or if anyone plans to pay respects to Officer Bonneau, find a location along the route to park in a designated parking area and view the procession.
