Get ready for lane closures near the Costco construction site beginning Monday
Drivers might want to think about an alternate route to work beginning Monday, if they travel through the area near the new Costco Warehouse store under construction in Pittsfield Township.
Starting Monday, there will be lane closures in that area.
The Washtenaw County Road Commission will begin lane closures on Ellsworth Road between State Street and Airport Boulevard, State Street between Ellsworth Road and I-94, and Research Park Drive just east of State Street for road improvements.
A minimum of one lane in each direction will be maintained, but delays are expected during construction.
A Road Commission advisory, which recommends drivers seek alternative routes until further notice.
These road improvements are part of the store road improvements. The new business is scheduled to open in July.

ummm, anhyone have a pointer to the roundabout dimentions? a FIFTY-THREE+ FOOT LONG (and tha;s just the trailer) rig making a 270 degree left turn (off E-ellsweorth onto N-state) to get back to i94 is gonna take up some kind of space. i thknk we can trust (???) that tis was taken into seriouls consideration, but it wold be nice to see the working scale model ... with traffic.

Ross, I use four of our roundabouts regularly. I find that the three on Geddes near US-23 are plenty big to navigate at 20 mph. The one at Huron Parkway and Nixon is smaller; I haven't seen any semis try to use it.

Agreed. I am a big fan of roundabouts, but most of the new ones around town are just wayyy too small. Having to slow down to nearly 10 mph just to navigate through them eliminates most of the time savings benefit, and trucks with trailers really struggle.
