Good Samaritan chases down suspect, recovers woman's bike

By Heather Lockwood

A man swiped a woman's bicycle from outside a business in Ypsilanti, but a good Samaritan chased the thief, causing him to abandon the bike, Ypsilanti police said.

The bike was stolen while the 60-year-old woman was inside a business in the 100 block of West Michigan Avenue, according to an Ypsilanti Police Department media summary.

A witness chased the suspect, who then discarded the bike and left on foot. The suspect is described as a 20-year-old white male, who was wearing a gray sweatshirt, according to the summary.

The bicycle was returned to the victim.
