Media spotlight shines on Milan man who shouted at Dingell

By Cindy Heflin

In today's Motor City Journal in the Detroit Free Press, Bill McGraw profiles Mike Sola of Milan, who shouted at U.S. Rep. John Dingell, D-Dearborn, at a forum on health-care reform in Romulus Thursday.

Television media reports highlighted the confrontation, and videos of it have been played thousands of times on YouTube.

Sola told McGraw he is sorry he went to the meeting and never intended to confront Dingell, but he said he is still strongly opposed to proposed health-care reform legislation.

Dmalmquist, HR3200 was sponsored by John Dingell has been voted out of the House Energy and Commerce committee. It is available online. Informed people have read this bill and see that it contains language that creates a government insurance company, will determine where and when and by whom you will receive medical care. (See page 58) This bill is a disaster and should be stopped NOW.

Sounds like a bunch of cranky old and not very smart men and women to me. There is not even a written bill yet to debate, so I have no idea where they are getting their info from, other then some of these neo con blogs.

I first heard this dialogue on the radio today. I am glad it wasn't shortened in any way for this online news.

Rep. Dingell has supported socialized medicine for for 50 years. It comes as no suprise that he would sponsor HR 3200. The bill is a terrible bill. Reforms can be made to help the 8 million or so that have difficulty acquiring health insurance without completely remaking a system that works well for the vast majaority. Rep. Dingell's time has come and past. We have a constitutionally limited republic not an oligarchy. I hope he is replaced in the next election.

Trying to ram through a massive change to our health care system with another 1,000 bill that no one reads is a disgrace. Congressman for Life Dingell is neither mentally nor physically up for this job any more. You cannot have any faith in his judgement. People are angry and frustrated and have every right to be. Sola's behavior was wrong but apparently a collective response like this was necessary to get the attention of the political class and elites.
