An annual meal to raise money for Food Gatherers, a Washtenaw County food bank and food rescue program, is planned for later this month.
Grillin' for Food Gatherers 2010 will be held Sunday, June 13 at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds, 5055 Ann Arbor-Saline Road.
The event will be held rain or shine from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will feature live music from Abigail Stauffer, Bull Halsey, Jamie Register and the Glendales, and George Bedard and the Kingpins.
Local businesses contributing to the event include: Casey's Tavern, Exotic Cuisine and Bakeries, Grange Kitchen & Bar and The Quarter Bistro and Tavern, with dessert provided by Zingerman's Bakery and Creamery. Children's activities will be hosted by the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum, and a silent auction is planned.
Tickets are $50 in advance for adults and are $60 at the gate. Children between the ages of 3 and 13 cost $10, and kids younger than 3 are free. To purchase tickets in advance, visit www.foodgatherers.org or call 734-761-2796. Tickets can also be purchased at Zingerman's Delicatessen, Zingerman's Roadhouse and Zingerman's Bakehouse. They can also be purchased at the Saline Picture Frame Co. and Dexter Picture Frame Co.
Proceeds will go toward Food Gatherers, which rescues and distributes food around the county. Last year, 18,000 people attended the event, raising more than $180,000.
