By Cindy Heflin

Slather on the sunscreen and head for the pool. Or find a nice cool spot indoors. It's going to be a hot one.

The heat could also cause problems for people engaged in strenuous outdoor activity, the weather service said.

If you have to be outside, drink plenty of fluids and stay out of direct sunlight if possible. Check on relatives and neighbors who may be vulnerable, the weather service advised. Do not leave children and pets unattended in vehicles.

The forecast calls for a high of 89 to 93 in the Ann Arbor area today. It will be mostly cloudy during the evening and mostly clear overnight. Showers and thunderstorms are likely this evening with lows of 61 to 65. Chance of rain is 60 percent.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny and cooler with a high around 80.

If we do reach 90 today, we that will mean we will have had a high in the 50's last Friday , 60's Saturday, 70's on Sunday, 80's yesterday, and 90's today. That's quite a sequence.
