High temperature and clear skies today and tonight

By Lisa Carolin

Temperatures are seasonably high for a July weekend. The average temperature for today is 83 degrees, but highs today could reach 90 degrees. Highs Sunday will be in the low 90s. The forecast calls for a mostly sunny day today with some clouds and light winds.

Sunday will be slightly warmer than today with sun in the morning, some clouds moving in during the afternoon, and a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening. Lows tonight and Sunday night will be in the low to mid 60s.

Next week is expected to stay hot with Monday getting into the 90s and a heat index around 100. Temperatures should drop into the 80s during the rest of the week. There is a chance of showers Monday night into Tuesday.

Sunset tonight is at 9:12 p.m. and sunrise tomorrow is at 6:06 a.m.

After a record rainfall in May for the Ann Arbor area of 7.32 inches, precipitation tapered off to 3 1/2 inches in June, and so far we've had a dry July with tomorrow night the first chance of rain in the forecast.
