Informational meeting on Early College Alliance to be held at Pioneer High School

By Kyle Feldscher

An informational meeting on the Early College Alliance for interested ninth and 10th grade students and their parents will be held on Thursday in Ann Arbor.

The meeting will take place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Pioneer High School’s Little Theater. The meeting is open to any student who is currently a freshman or sophomore in any public school district, charter, private or parochial schools, as well as home-schooled children.

The ECA is a partnership between Eastern Michigan University and more than half of the county’s school districts. It allows students to graduate from high school with up to 60 college credits.

For more information on the program and the meeting, visit the ECA website or call 734-487-4290.

This is a chance of a lifetime for kids. It is a wonderful program. But it is not easy. My daughter is going through it and is almost finished. The teachers have been great. In two years my granddaughter will be eligible for this program and I can't wait to have her go through it. These kids get a jump on their college education and learn how to handle college responsibilities so that they will actually end up completeing college. Some of our high school seniors from last year went away to college and have already returned home for various reasons (flunking out, pregancy, etc.). I am glad my daughter is taking advantage of this program. Besides paying for her classes and books, they have been they for her every step of the way. Thank you ECA!!

This is a great program. We are in Saline school district which does not participate, and had to use schools of choice so that our daughter could attend. It provides great flexibility for students of all types, and is a huge boon to college bound kids. It's well worth looking into!

Looks like this meeting is tonight? I have 2 kids at Pioneer and I have heard absolutely nothing about this. No surprise. They put zero effort into effective communication with parents. We don't hear at all, we hear a few hours before it starts, or we hear early but with the wrong information and time.
